Choosing the right brassware for your new bathroom

Choosing the right brassware for your new bathroom

Here at Laura Ashley Bathroom Collection, you’ll discover a wide range of styles – from the seriously contemporary open spout of our Lucca basin mixer to the traditional crosshead design of our Clifton taps, to York, with its simple curves that are echoed in its matching showerheads too. Each of our three brassware ranges has been designed to coordinate perfectly with our bathroom designs.

It may seem obvious, but before you buy your brassware, it’s important to make sure it will be compatible with your basin or bath. Look at your chosen basin or bath and check if it comes with pre-drilled tap holes. If it does, then you’ll need to fit taps to the number of holes. Our Clifton basin mixer is for use on one tap hole basins, but we also have the option of a pair of Clifton basin taps for two-hole basins. Likewise if your bath needs a deck-mounted bath filler, then we have a design to suit. Perfect for making a real style statement and particularly striking when teamed with a freestanding bath, floorstanding bath shower fillers are available in contemporary and traditional styles to complement your bath.

Size is another important factor when choosing your brassware. If you’ve splashed out on a lovely vessel basin, then you’ll need to make sure any tap has a high enough arch to reach the side or even centre of the basin, keeping the water in the basin bowl. Our York side action mixer looks great with a sleek basin design as does our Lucca tall open spout mixer. Check the projection or depth of any tap too, especially if your basin is shallow as the last thing you want is to hit your face while rinsing off the soap each morning.

Have a chat to your plumber before you settle on a tap, mixer or shower, as the most stylish of brassware will hardly impress if there’s just a trickle when guests turn it on. You’ll find the bar pressure of each of our taps and showers on our website, under ‘Features’ and clearly labelled in our brochure to help you find the right models for your water system.

Choose brassware that’s in keeping with the overall feel of your bathroom. Pair an open spout basin mixer, like our Lucca design, with clean minimalist lines, such as our Monograph basin unit, while our Langham range suits the more traditional styling of our Clifton taps. York works with both traditional and contemporary bathroom designs, thanks to its sleek shape and choice of lever or crosshead handles.

So don’t leave the brassware to the last minute – plan ahead and get the bathroom of your dreams, that looks good and functions well.
